An important value is the IP protection class. The 2 adjacent digits describe how well an outdoor luminaire is protected against penetrating foreign bodies and water. For outdoor luminaires for wall mounting, IP44 is completely sufficient: the protection against foreign bodies expressed by the first digit (here: against everything measuring more than 1 mm) is often rather irrelevant; the second digit is the decisive factor. A 4 in the second position of the IP protection class guarantees that the luminaire is splash-proof. An outdoor luminaire with protection class IP67 can even withstand short-term submersion. Nevertheless, care should be taken that anyone who wants to install wall luminaires outside should ideally do so under the canopy or in a protected area, this guarantees a lifetime of durability in the best case.
LEDs for outdoor luminaires
Energy efficiency (see energy label of the light source) and durability are important criteria for the selection of suitable light sources for outdoor wall luminaires. LED lamps meet these criteria in particular and are also almost maintenance-free. Of course, we offer some wall lights directly with integrated LED modules.
Outdoor luminaires with motion detector: Energy-saving and functional
For the entrance area, for example, outdoor luminaires equipped with a motion detector are recommended. This is not only practical, but also helps you to save energy costs. Parameters such as range and light duration can be set very precisely on most outdoor luminaires with motion detectors and adjusted to new conditions at any time.
