Fingerprints technology can be found in several hundred million devices and applications and is used billions of times every day. It enables secure and convenient fingerprint identification and authentication.

In our DoorBird IP door stations and IP access control devices, we combine outstanding biometric performance and security, high-quality components and a capacitive touch sensor.

Enrolment of a new fingerprint is conveniently done in conjunction with the DoorBird app or our web-based administration tool at https://webadmin. doorbird.com. If access needs to be cancelled, a fingerprint can also be deleted remotely in real time.

Access authorisations can be restricted to certain days and times. This allows you to determine who is authorised to enter your home or building and when. You can also individually define which action is to be carried out for each fingerprint, e.g. trigger relay 1 or 2, control an IP I/O door controller, call up an HTTP(s) URL, arm or disarm an alarm system, open an intelligent lock or trigger an event in the building automation system.

The fingerprint reader does not lose its functionality even under severe weather conditions; it has been specially designed for such conditions. In terms of security, convenience and speed, the capacitive, full-image touch sensor is effectively superior to line-based models and also enables a lower installation height.

Data protection & security: The reader does not store fingerprint images. It only stores one template per fingerprint in the form of a mathematically calculated hash value. Biometric features are neither transmitted to the DoorBird door station nor to the app or cloud. Our system therefore fulfils the highest data protection and data security standards.

In addition, the fingerprint reader has a mechanism that prevents tampering attempts and temporarily locks the system after 5 unauthorised access attempts. To increase security even further, the fingerprint reader itself has no built-in relays. Instead, you can use the DoorBird IP I/O Door Controller A1081, which is connected to a DoorBird IP Video Door Station, to securely trigger a detached relay.
